My name is Micaela Damas. I am from Overland Park, Kansas where I attended Blue Valley North High School. While at Blue Valley North I was a three-sport athlete participating in Basketball, Soccer, and Track & Field. I was part of the State Champion Basketball team in 2005 and the third place team in 2006. I still hold the school record in Javelin and was part of the state ranked 4 X 4 team in 2003 as well as a four-year Varsity Soccer player.
I graduated from Blue Valley North in 2006 and earned a soccer scholarship to Northern Illinois University. At Northern Illinois University I was a four year starting defender helping my team make it to the MAC tournament three times. I graduated Northern Illinois University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Type 09 Teacher Certification. I then pursued a professional soccer contract in Sydney, Australia. While playing with the North West Sydney Koalas I was the number one scorer, Captain, and voted Most Valuable Player. With the conclusion of my contract I moved back to the States with hopes to continue my soccer career. Unfortunately, the Women's Professional Soccer League folded leaving me with a desire to compete. My brother suggested Bobsledding and I went with it completing and winning two United States Olympic Bobsled selection combines, Team Trials, and being selected as a member of the Norther American Cup Team.
I am currently in Park City, Utah training for the 2014 Olympic Trials with the hopes of attending the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.
I have put together this page to share my journey to the blue unitard. Thank you for your time and your support.
